Found from Alaska to Mexico, the American black bear thrives. Reaching 6 feet and over 300 pounds, they are skillful climbers and can run up to 25 miles per hour. Smaller and more common than the brown bear, they have long snouts, small eyes, and rounded ears. 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
